 How do I register to be a member of the Poker in Canada Tour?

You can register for the Poker in Canada Tour by completing an application at one of our Tournaments. When the application is completed and signed, you will be assigned a Member Card and Number and are eligible to play right away and begin collecting points for entry to the Championship Tournament. It is recommended that new players arrive early to ensure you get registered in time to play that evening/day. Membership Card and ID (must be 19 years old) are always required to register for a Tournament.

What is Texas Hold'em?

Texas Hold'em is the most popular variety of poker played today and the primary game played at the World Series of Poker and on the World Poker Tour. Players receive two cards face down, followed by five community cards dealt face up at the center of the table. Each player tries to make his/her best five-card hand using the seven cards available. Best hand wins.

What is meant by No Limit?

No limit means that the player can bet as many chips as they have at any point in the game. This varies from Limit or structured games in which the player must bet amounts according to a predetermined structure.

What is a Poker Tournament and how does it differ from a regular poker game?

In a Poker Tournament, each player receives the same number of chips. Once they lose their chips, they are eliminated from the tournament. As opposed from a regular poker game, a player cannot get more chips during the Tournament - when you're done, you're done! Also, in Tournament play, the blinds (forced bets) continually increase forcing players to play or get knocked out. The winner is the player who is able to accumulate everyone's chips!

What is the Poker in Canada Tour?

The Poker in Canada Tour is a series of Poker Tournaments operated entirely for free at bars and restaurants and with no currency involved in any way.

Is money involved?

Absolutely Not! However, like any sport people play, the fun is in the competition, improving your skills, not to mention the bragging rights that come with proving you're the best.

How many people play in each Tournament?

There is seating for 80 players and waiting list of 20. No player, including waiting list players, will be seated after the first hour of play to ensure a quality turnament for all players. Waiting list players have their chip stack reduced by set of blinds every 20 minutes.

Can I come just to watch?

Absolutely, poker is a fun game to watch, especially a no-limit all-in game.

With more than 5 million poker players in Canada and a reported 60 million in North America and over 100 million worldwide, more people play poker than play golf, pool or tennis.

Who can enter Poker in Canada Tour Tournaments?

Anyone can register and play as long as you are legal drinking age, have photo ID and abide by the rules of the Tournaments - which are explicit that no currency of any kind be involved.
