REGISTRATION
- You must show up in person at an event to register each time.
- The first 80 players that arrive and register with their Member
Card are granted seats in the Tournament
- The next 20 players to arrive are placed on a waiting list
and will replace the first 20 players that are eliminated from
the Tournament
- No player will be seated after the first hour.
- Waiting list players will have one stack of blinds removed
from their starting stack for every level of blind attained (usually
every 20 minutes). Thus if entering in level one: 75 will
be removed from your stack; level two: 225 will be removed; level
three: 525 will be removed. (500 if red has been coloured off)
- Players will post immediately if the open spot is in either
of the blind positions
BETTING RULES
- Pre flop the first person to act (fold or bet) is always the
player to the left of the big blind. After the flop the
first player involved in the hand to the left of the Dealer starts
the action.
- When starting the betting action, the minimum bet is always
the amount of the big blind. Verbal “bets” are
binding.
- After a bet, the first raise must be at least double the big
blind to “all-in”. If a statement of “raise” is
made but only enough chips to “call” are placed on
the table, the player will be required place more chips on the
table equal to the amount of the minimum raise. Players
should announce when they are going to raise and state the amount. Verbal “raises” are
binding.
- Without making a verbal declaration, if a player places a bet
out that is more than the amount needed to call then the “50%” rule
is used. If the amount is less than 50% of the minimum
raise than the excess amount is removed and it becomes a “call” but
if 50% or more is set out then the amount needed to call a minimum
raise is required to complete the action.
- The minimum raise is always double the amount of the previous raise (not
the entire bet) to all-in. For example: bet =100, raise=300,
re-raise=500 not 600
- You can raise “all-in” for all your chips in any
betting round. A player that calls your “all-in” with
more chips than you only needs to match the total of your chips. A
player that calls your “all-in” with less chips
than you can only win the total of their bet – you keep
the difference if you lose the hand.
- A player cannot win more than the amount of chips in his stack
after going “all-in” multiplied by the number of
players that called his bet. So further bets after a player(s)
have gone all-in are placed into a side pot and that pot goes
to the best hand of the remaining players. This procedure
is repeated if additional side pots become necessary.
- To make a bet, state “bet” or “raise”,
count your chips out in front of you in identifiable stacks and
leave them in front of you. When all bets and raises are
complete the dealer should push all the chips into the center
to make a pot. Do not toss your chips into the center of
the table ie “splash the pot”.
- No string bets. A player should state the amount of the
bet/raise they wish to make and place all chips required to complete
the bet/raise in one motion. You cannot go back into your
stack of chips multiple times to complete the action.
GENERAL RULES AND
ETIQUETTE
- Place all folded and burn cards in a discard pile. No
one is ever allowed to look at any of the cards in the discard
pile.
- “Rabbit hunting” is NEVER allowed. This is
when all hands are folded to a winner prior to all the community
cards being turned up and the dealer (or another player) checks
to see what would have come up on the turn/river had the hand
continued.
- Protect your cards at all times. If your cards end up
in the “muck” even if someone else put them there
by mistake, your hand is DEAD – you have NO recourse and
any antes, blinds or bets you’ve already paid are dead
money.
- If you’ve folded your cards, always wait until the current
hand is finished before you discuss your cards. Never openly
discuss the flop with hands still in play.
- Always wait until it is your turn to act. Never bet,
fold or announce your intention of play before it is your turn – it
may affect another player’s decision.
- “The cards speak” This means that after the cards
are turned over, the winning hand is the best hand even if the
winner didn’t realize they had the best hand. Poker
is a game of honour.
- Always pay attention and have your mind focused on the game. Beware
of slow play that can reduce the number of hands people play
in each round. The blinds will continue to increase at
set intervals and it is in each player’s interest to be
able to play as many hands as possible.
- Finally, remember this is a game of sportsmanship. Always
act with dignity and treat your fellow players with respect regardless
of whether you win or lose.
